Carrying the Banner

Stormwind Map last time:

Stormwind Map now:

I got the banner stitched! Wheee! And you can actually read it! Mostly I have decided that all of the text that will be on this thing isn't really going to be perfectly legible, but that's okay because anybody who is really going to appreciate it already knows what it says. They know it's Stormwind and they know which section is the Dwarven District and which is the Mage Quarters, etc. By convincing myself that the entire project is a stitching of a drawing of a map and more artistic than functional, so to speak, I was able to get my pedantry to sit down and shut up. But, all the same, I am quite pleased that this part is actually legible. Sure, the r and m are a touch muddled, but all in all I think it's pretty good.

Which is great because up close things looked a little dubious on that score.

I made excellent progress on stocking 1 this weekend too. The six row repeat in this simple lace pattern is really easy to memorize and knitting it is has been very enjoyable. My hands get tired long before I do.

  1. Your Stormwind Map is really coming along. Now, pardon my ignorance, but is this part of the LoTR universe? It's beautiful, nonetheless.
Have you seen the Middle Earth and the Westeros Patterns that have since been retired on HaED? I don't have the guts to do them. I think the Westeros one is 100 pages!
I'm crazy, but I'm not that crazy!

    1. Ignorance totally pardoned. There are so many fandoms in the world and no one can keep track of them all. Stormwind is a city in the Warcraft universe. I used to play World of Warcraft and it was my favorite city. There was just something very storybook about it that appealed to me.
I've seen the Middle Earth map but not a Westeros one on HAED. Now I have to try to find it!
The Middle Earth map is fantastic, and I love following other people's progress on it on various blogs, but I think I would have a hard time stitching it. I need more color, you know? I'm planning on restarting my Wanderers Cove with the new SS Max color version which is 108 pages in regular format, so I guess I am kind of that crazy. :p I certainly won't be bored with the colors though!
